In support of people going through life and career transitions, Susan spoke to 55 members of the employment group, Experience Unlimited, in Lafayette, California on June 24, 2008. Her workshop:

Transition: An Opportunity To Renew Your Possibilities”

1. Learn how your beliefs play a role in the life you create
2. Create a clear vision of the career you wish to build
3. Identify the beliefs that may be holding you back from building this career
4. Learn the steps for developing a strong belief in yourself
5. Identify things you can do to strengthen your belief and release your obstacles

Value of Susan’s Workshop Style

1. Comfortable Atmosphere: Susan’s presentation style and focus come from her heart. Her desire to help people and her ability to create trust through this genuine communication style, combine to create a uninhibited atmosphere for people to participate and “let their hair down” as one attendee noted.

2. Customized Workshop: Susan adjusts her workshops to what she is able to help attendees get in touch with during the presentation. She encourages input and participation–most important she follows up the ideas that come forth during interaction.

3. Instant Intelligence: by allowing each workshop to follow the attendees challenges, Susan is required to think quickly, think deeply, and provide answers on the spot. Her strength is this ability to adapt without skipping a beat.

Crowd Reaction

During the workshop, Susan was able to entice a number of people to tell their “story”, “fear”, or “challenge” to the group. This open forum style had the attendees sharing, helping, and providing feedback valuable to the entire group.

The most interesting responses:

“I have more control than I thought”
“I didn’t know how to plan for a change until now”
“I guess I get in my own way without realizing it”
“When can I attend another one of your workshops?”

Instincts Exercise: Taking Advantage Of Your Inner Assets

  • A Sense of knowing something without knowing how you know it
  • Insights about your life that are “just there”
  • Persistent ideas that you don’t consciously focus on
  • Desires that you have that you didn’t consciously create
  • Dreams for your life that you would not dare to conjure up on your own
  • Insight that feels like it is coming from the depths of your being
  • A message or piece of knowledge that seems to come from out of nowhere
  • Out of the ordinary bodily sensations

The 8 Common Characteristics of Intuition (above) provide the basis for Susan’s “Instincts Exercise” from her upcoming book “Inner Architect: How To Build The Life You Were Designed To Live.”

Exercise: Review the list of intuition characteristics above. Identify specific insights about what you are meant to be or achieve that have come to you in these ways. This is rich information for you to be in touch with.

*Write as many insights as you can here
*Don’t edit the list in any way
*Just acknowledge what has come to you

Instinct: Valuable “Intelligence” From Your Inner World

Because of our conditioning, instinct or intuition is often ignored as less than accurate due to our tendency to place more trust in what we know to be fact or physical evidence. Yet a vast amount of valuable intelligence is available from our own inner world.

“Intelligence” can be thought of as both information as well as smarts.

“Inner World” is our internal stream of thought, consciousness, and ongoing dialog.

Despite our conditioning and upbringings, we can choose to value our instincts by understanding their power, recognizing our own capability to hone our sense of intuition, and by using our instincts on a daily basis. In order to begin this process, it is important to understand some characteristics of intuition (aka instincts).

Common Characteristics of Intuition

  • A Sense of knowing something without knowing how you know it
  • Insights about your life that are “just there”
  • Persistent ideas that you don’t consciously focus on
  • Desires that you have that you didn’t consciously create
  • Dreams for your life that you would not dare to conjure up on your own
  • Insight that feels like it is coming from the depths of your being
  • A message or piece of knowledge that seems to come from out of nowhere
  • Out of the ordinary bodily sensations

Intuitive Heart vs Analytical Mind: The Internal Struggle You Need To Win

How many times in your life have you made decisions based on past experience(s), only to realize later, that these past experiences you based your decision upon were no longer relevant?

How often have you scoffed at and ignored your intuitive heart in matters because listening to your heart always seemed to be flighty rather than practical and wise?

In most cases, you utilize your analytical mind to make decisions rather than “giving credibility to your feelings and accepting their messages as valid.”

If this is you then it is time to wake up to the fact that your intuitive heart is a very valuable tool, more positive, and a better barometer in providing the kind of information that will allow you to move forward and attain your desired reality.

4 Steps to Trusting Your Intuitive Heart

1. Role: Allow your heart to play a role in matters of career, just as you allow it a significant role in your personal relationships

2. Acknowledge: Recognize and accept that your heart is the center of your spiritual essence. As such, it is the most knowledgeable entity about who you really are at the core and what is right for you

3. Best Interests: Believe that your heart always has your best interest in mind

4. Practice: give your heart a chance by practicing. Follow your heart for simple decisions so that you can build the experience to trust it in larger issues

Manage The Power of Your Mind: Learn How To Manage Your Words

In becoming aware of the power of your mind we often believe our thoughts are the most powerful tools available to us. The area we often ignore are the words we choose in expressing ourselves to others as well as to the universe. If you begin to consider the following tip, it will help you manage the power of your mind in creating the reality that you desire.

Word Tip: Consider your words “audio” versions of your thoughts, give your words the same power as you do your thoughts, and consequently say what you really mean because the power of your words matches the power of your thoughts. Remember to utilize words for the reality you wish to create not to complain or identify dissatisfying aspects of your reality

3 Steps To Managing Your Words

1. Awareness: remember that your words can either nurture or stunt the development of your vision-reality. Manage them accordingly

2. Commitment: make the commitment to honor what it is you wish to create by choosing supportive and positive words

3. Follow Through: attempt to “think before you speak”; this is a great policy that will help to make sure your words are in alignment with what you wish to create. You will not be able to do this all of the time but try, before verbally communicating, to measure the power of your words

The Power of Your Mind: Supporting Your Reality One Thought At A Time

If you want to take control of your life, create your desired outcomes, and consciously be aware of the power you possess, then you must understand the power of your mind. According to a Quantum Physics theory, Albert Einstein and David Bohm, your mind is always influencing what you create in your outer (physical) world whether you are aware of it or not. Consequently we now understand that:

Everything that is created begins as an idea in your mind

The 4 Facts About The Power Of Your Mind

1. Energy: Everything that exists is made up of energy, including your thoughts, your words and your emotions

2. Interconnection: Scientists have described the universe as a single life form of interconnected energy that is in a continuous state of unfolding or change

3. Influential Thoughts: The energy of your thoughts, words, and emotions influences what unfolds

4. Transmission: The energy you transmit through your mind influences creation and change at every moment

Bohm’s View: A New Reality Is Born

“What I mean by “thought” is the whole thing – thought, felt, the body, the whole society sharing thoughts – it’s all one process. It is essential for me not to break that up, because it’s all one process; somebody else’s thoughts becomes my thoughts, and vice versa. Therefore it would be wrong and misleading to break it up into my thoughts, your thoughts, my feelings, these feelings, those feelings…”

The 7 Habits Of A Conscious Creator: Think Your Way To A “New” You

What is a conscious creator? It is someone who is consistently aware of their power to create the life experiences they desire. It is someone who then utilizes this power to create their desired outcomes. If you believe that you are what “you eat” then it is even more important to remember that you become what you think.

If you don’t feel your life is what it should be, then consider changing your thoughts.

The 7 Habits Of A Conscious Creator

1. Consistent Awareness: Begin your day reminding yourself that you are a creator; help solidify your belief and awareness of your goals

2. Affirmations: Start your day with affirmations that support your major goals

3. Concentrated Focus: On a daily basis, identify steps you can take that create what you want

4. Visualization: Like world class athletes before a performance, visualize your day and how you want it to happen
